Thanks to Mosker...
My dad taught me how to read a map, remember landmarks, and in general, how not to get lost and find my way back. He taught me this starting from the time I could remember. That's right -- just remember something. Then he started filling those databanks full.
My home county has been steadily working on GIS implementation. Not all of the parcels are marked yet, but I can see aerial maps tied to roads I know well. Fascinating. Unfortunately I could spend all day looking at these, and mapping those aerial photos to my mind's image of the roads and landmarks -- mountains, curves, hollers, coves. I wish Dad could see these -- he'd also be fascinated.
It's funny, yesterday I took some backroads home from church -- over some hills, 'round some curves and Big Blue (that's the '87 Ford F-150) seemed to be running so happy. Made sense. That's the kind of landscape the truck was used to the first 40,000 miles or so of its voyage. Dad would have enjoyed the drive too -- especially sighting the bluebirds -- city address, but living out in the country.
As you may have read, my foot is healing from having a plantar wart the size of Missouri removed. I've always had a hard time with bandages. Some peel off, and leave lots of residue (ouch and gross). Some take the scab off with them (ICK).
I've even been told to try duct tape on my foot (previous doc who tried to burn it off). Duct tape wouldn't even stay on my foot and the adhesive broke me out! So, I've discovered the 3m Nexcare bandages. They stay on, leave no adhesive residue, and don't take any of the skin with it. Yes, they're expensive, I think they're worth it. 3M needs to send me a free box or two, don't you agree?
