We have new neighbors who moved in over the weekend. Beautiful orange breasts-- Baltimore Orioles. We got a feeder that holds sugar water, an orange half, and grape jelly. This pair of orioles just loves grape jelly!
We still have three different types of woodpeckers, if you include the flickers. Downy, red-breasted (despite the red on the back of the head!) and the flickers.
And tonight, we're hearing an owl. I think I've tracked down which kind, but I want to hear its call a few more times before I announce my guess publicly!
Deer still abound, and last night on my way home from church I saw 2 sets of 2 fawns in different fields. I slowed down because I figured mama deer had to be nearby.
Enjoy what critters spring brings to your backyard!

Urbana is home to a bazillion rabbits, and they all like to hang out in our yard and neighborhood. We have an empty lot next to our house, and it is not uncommon to see 4-6 rabbits hanging out in it at a time.

I'm suffering from bird envy about now. We rarely see flickers. No orioles.
I have many mocking birds, many, many finches and other little songbirds. We get barn owls living in the palms. Jays and hummingbirds, also. Kestral falcon swoops in now and then, things get quiet when they're on the prowl. I'm too urban for deer.
