Yesterday morning I baked 3 dozen blueberry muffins from scratch. We had a meeting for our student employees at 9am, so I got up at 5:30am to bake. Joel and I had 2 muffins each, and much to Joel's dismay, I brought NO muffins home.
"Those pigs ate all of them??" he exclaimed. I'm happy when folks like my baking, and yes, I encouraged them to eat the muffins.
Also on yesterday's agenda was Altar Guild duty at church. We only had one priest host for today's two services. I called the person who orders the wafers, and she had forgotten to order more. What to do? I called Mother Susan, and offered to bake communion bread for the 10:15am service. She met me at the church and shared recipes she had collected.
After a long nap yesterday afternoon/evening, I mixed up the bread dough, let it rise, then punched it down and put it in the fridge overnight.
This morning I got up (at 5am this time!) and got the dough shaped into loaves, let them rise and baked them. Then made fresh blueberry muffins for Joel. After all, he wanted more.
It's 8:10am and I'm nearly ready for church. I feel like I've worked quite a bit already, but if the bread works well for communion, it'll be a good thing. And Joel pronounced the muffins delicious. A good start.

You are my baking heroess! I miss the smells of your kitchen...

I could use a blueberry muffin this morning. I suppose it's too much to ask that you whip up a batch and while they're still hot manage to get on an airplane with them and bring them to me? Yeah, that's what I thought. I had to ask. Sounds yummy though.

I'm not much into muffins or banana bread or stuff like that but I always love the smell of them cooking....with the exception of blueberry muffins. For some reason I think they smell awful and I hate it whenever Mary cooks them, makes me want to fumugate the house!

Yo, Mary! Now you know how to get some quiet time in the house by yourself! ;)

Now if I could just find something Tori and Razz thought was stinking, I could have the whole house to myself.
I am truly amazed that you get up so early to cook! I know your students appreciated it.
