We both heard noises in the night, but when we got up (independent of each other) to investigate, all was fine.
This morning, Joel walked around the house early to check things out. He found a Razr cell phone in our back yard, close to the house. It was missing its battery. I took it and put it on the dining room table. About 15 minutes afterwards, while Joel was making another set of rounds, our across the dead-end street neighbor came over. It was her phone. I don't think I want to know how it got in our yard. But all is fine on the house.
Then in church, during the New Testament lesson, a cell phone rang near the front of the congregation. The owner quicky muted the offending device. About 4 verses from the end of that lesson, a cell phone rang right behind me. The owner of the cell phone did a quick mute as well and then left the nave to check on something.
Thankfully I had turned mine to vibrate and put it deep down in my purse, just in case. No other cell phones interrupted the rest of the service.

Laura Gayle, I accidentally changed my cell phone ring to this annoying alarm ring about a year ago. I couldn't figure out how to change my ring back. I went to a ladies retreat at church and forgot to mute my phone. In the middle of our worship service the alarm ring went off real loud. Like three people jumped up to run out of the room, as I fumbled to quickly turn off my phone. I had everyone's attention and I was sooooo embarrassed. I never forget to mute my cell phone now!! I think Mary fixed my ringer for me, too.

Jules-these things just happen. As a musician, I'm overly sensitive to any noise, and try to be aware of any noise I'm making or could possibly make. Although, it is funny when I leave my phone on at the knitting shop and my husband calls. His ring tone is "Stars and Stripes Forever" and it always makes folks wonder and then laugh when I tell them who it is (the tone does make you call to attention!).

I'm just always astonished when those things happen - yet I know mistakes/accidents happen, too. At least the people didn't take the calls & carry on a conversation!

That happens in class sometimes, but the professors never make a big production about it. What surprises me most is when it happens to the same person more than once in the same evening. After the first ring, wouldn't they notice that the phone is on?
