I offered to host a Choir Rehearsal/Summer Choir Break potluck at our house. Last night was the event.
I left work around noon, stopped by Costco to load up on brats, plates, cups, buns. Came home and unloaded. Noticed the house was warm, but we usually set the A/C for around 80 during the day-- and I figured that since it was a hot day, 87 was probably okay for the moment. I set the temperature back to cool things off for my cleaning and so the house wouldn't heat up so much during the party. Went to the neighborhood grocery to get some ice and a few other things.
When I came back home, I checked the thermostat, and while the fan was running, no cool air was coming out. And the temperature was 88 degrees. I decided to turn off the A/C and work for a while with all of the windows/doors open and the attic fan running. The breeze felt good, but the temperature creeped up to 90. Eventually I turned the A/C back on. No luck. I would go outside to catch the breeze and I noticed that the A/C unit wasn't running.
Great. up to 20 people coming for dinner and no A/C. And we just had our annual A/C check on 6/17. Well, everyone was a good sport. We did have rehearsal inside, but everyone sat outside on our tiny deck, or stood out there. I had Coke and Diet Coke and a 6 pack of beer on ice (took care of those around 2pm so they were wonderfully cold).
Didn't sleep well because of the heat. However, I've put a call in to our HVAC folks and let's hope they can come out tomorrow. And that it's not costly...
