Happy Monday! And I'm not talking about liquor when I say wild turkey. Joel and I were doing our morning routine --sipping coffee, reading e-mail and the newspaper, when we heard a noise. Joel said "what was that?" Being the country girl that I am, I recognized it immediately. Wild turkey! At least two of them. And now as I site here typing (having unplugged the computer because of the thunderstorm), I see three of them on the little ridge in the field behind us. They're just far enough away that I'd need a lens to take a photo of them -- sorry I don't have that for my digital camera.
One of the folks on the other side of the field keeps cattle, and we often hear them in the early morning. I love waking up to the sound of cattle lowing. But wild turkey? What a delight!

We have wild turkey that inhabit the land our church is on and they, and a few deer, can be frequently seen grazing out side windows in the church lawn. Pastor usually comments about them...he can tell they are out there when he notices people staring out the windows. :)

I grew up in the country. I miss it really bad. I hope maybe someday I can move back. I wake up to the sound of cars and trains.

:chortle:
My husband can come set up a blind in your yard if you wanna eat 'em. ;)
AND, he put up his decoys in my HERB BED so I about had a heart attack when I walked by the window and saw these huge black blobs so close to the house. I married a crazy man, and love him for it. Except for setting up his blind in the house. :)
